What is Oktoberfest?
Oktoberfest is known as the world’s largest beer festival. It first began in 1810 as a way to celebrate Bavarian culture. This event is held annually in Munich, Germany as a 16-18 day folk festival, which usually takes place around mid-late September or early October. During Oktoberfest, visitors consume lots of flavorful beer, dance to German music, and participate in exciting games and activities.
After reading all of this, you are probably wondering how the Oktoberfest in Germany pertains to New Orleans – or even the state of Louisiana for that matter. Well, like many other states across the country, we take part in this festival as well! In fact, Oktoberfest is a world-wide celebration, attracting millions of people annually. So, be sure to join in on the fun with Oktoberfest NOLA this year.
